The legends of Knights dates back to the era of King Arthur and they where renowned for defining the ideal of chivalry and  were sworn to uphold the values of faith, loyalty, courage and honour.  Knights fought in the Holy Land in the Crusades against the Turks. who had taken the city of Jerusalem where Jesus had died and had been buried. For many years past, pilgrims had travelled from all parts of Europe, to worship and pray at the Holy City.

But the Turks hated Christians, and would not let them visit the Holy Places; so, many of the bravest kings and princes of western Europe started the crusades or wars of the Cross. They were so called because everyone taking part in them wore a cross on his arm or breast.

Stories of Knights of the Crusades and legends of Richard the Lionheart abound in all cultures, so we invite you to create your own Knights and villains from within the characters of the Knights hand decorated chess set complete with presentation box. Includes chess board and is very well presented.
