The agreement is between The Chess Set Store (referred to herein as “ The Chess Set Store “‚ “Seller”‚ “we”‚ “our” and “us”) and the customer (referred to herein as “Buyer”‚ “consumer”‚ “you” and “your”)
By placing an order on this web site or with The Chess Set Store , you agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions as set out below. If you do not agree with the Terms and Conditions please do not place an order.
- Conditions Applicable.
- Nothing in these conditions shall affect the Buyer’s statuary rights as a consumer.
- Any typographical, clerical or other error or omission in any sales literature, quotation, price list, acceptance of offer, invoice or other document or information issued by the Seller shall be subject to correction without any liability on the part of the Seller.
- Your order may not be accepted if:
- We are unable to obtain authorisation or clearance of your payment.
- The product that you have ordered is unobtainable.
- Your address or contact details cannot be verified.
- Payment and Deposits.
- The price includes VAT at the current UK standard rate.
- All payments or deposits must be paid and cleared before the Buyers order can be processed.
- The total price shall be the price of the product(s) as stipulated on the Seller’s web site or published catalogue current at the date of the order, plus the agreed delivery costs and plus any agreed insurance costs.
- All orders must be paid for in full before the product(s) can be delivered.
- All products remain the property of The Chess Set Store until they have been fully paid for.
- If your credit/debit card issuer refuses authorisation of payment to us, we reserve the right to cancel the contract with you.
- Delivery
- You agree to accept delivery of the product(s) on the date agreed with us or our agent.
- It is your responsibility for ensuring that there is suitable access to the premises in order to allow the product(s) to be delivered. The Seller cannot be held responsible if restricted access prevents delivery of the product(s).
- If you fail to accept delivery of the product(s) on the agreed date, we reserve the right to recover the return transportation costs.
- In any event “time” shall not be “of the essence”.
- The Seller shall not be liable for non delivery or delayed delivery, howsoever caused.
- Returns and Cancellations.
In the unlikely event of experiencing problems with delivery:
- You must inspect the product(s) immediately on delivery and inform us within 24 hours of any damage or defects. You must not sign for the delivery until you are saticefied that the product(s) are in good condition. If you sign for the delivery before you have inspected the product(s) you have contractually agreed that the products are not damaged.
- If the product(s) is damaged or defective we will offer to take it back and replace it for you free of charge or if you prefer we will issue a refund. You must ensure that the product(s) is adequately wrapped in its original packaging for return to us.
- If the product(s) is not damaged or defective, but you are dissatisfied, you have 7 days from the delivery date to contact the Seller by letter, fax or e-mail to cancel your order. In this case you will be offered a refund of the price of the product(s), but you must bear the cost of returning the product(s) to us. The product(s) must be received in the same condition they were in at the time of delivery and adequately wrapped in its original packaging.
- The Seller shall not be liable to the Buyer for any direct or consequential loss or damage arising out of any problem the Seller notifies to the Buyer.
- The Products.
- The samples give an idea of colour but we cannot guarantee that the final colour will exactly match.
- The Buyer accepts that as each item is made and finished by hand, there can be variations in colour, texture and tone within each piece.
- While every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of colour reproduction in our photographs on our web site and catalogues, they are for illustrative purposes only as we do not have control over the settings on your equipment.
- All measurements on our web site and catalogues are approximate.

- All content on our site including (but not limited to) photographs, text, images and illustrations is owned by The Chess Set Store and is protected by international and English copyright laws.
- Neither The Chess Set Store or its Directors will be held responsible or liable to you or any other parties for any direct, indirect, consequential or punitive damages that may occur as a result of your use of our web site.
- General.
- This contract shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any dispute shall be determined by the courts of England and Wales.
